Ride Schedule for 2009
The club normally rides every second Sunday and every fourth Sunday of
the month.
Any changes to this schedule will be posted here and in the mass
mailing that goes out about a week before each ride.
Nearly all rides leave from the parking lot next to the Idlewild
Pool on
Idlewild Drive.
This is also right next to the skate park for the skateboarders among
you! Times may vary for some rides (will be noted here and in the
e-mail), but normally we meet at 12:00 noon and are on our way by
12:15PM for
the RAT, and meet at 9:00AM for the longer rides and are on the road by
9:05AM. If you're going on one of the long rides, be prompt!
The second Sunday is a RAT (Ride Around Town). We'll cruise around
for
an hour or two and then stop for a snack or late lunch someplace.
Destination and route are figured-out when we meet. Scoot Reno is
always open to ideas for this ride. The RAT is intended to be
'displacement neutral' - you can ride anything as long as it's a
scooter.
The fourth Sunday will generally be more adventurous and can involve
some highway riding to get to a particular spot. The notice will
mention if this will
happen. In that case you need to have a highway-legal scooter - in NV
this means 150cc or larger. Even though we don't try to make
a habit of speeding down the freeways, a 50cc scoot normally won't cut
it! Typical departure for the long
rides is 9:00AM from the same location.
Check the schedule - sometimes the RAT and the long ride swap
weekends to accomodate other events and rallys. Every attempt is
made to keep this web site up to date, and rides are also posted on the
Nevada Group Riders
web site. If you're seeing this site for the first time, MAKE
SURE TO SEND YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS! This way you will be sure to
know about any last-minute changes.
Mid-week Rides
Some of us have the freedom to ride at other times. If you want
to do a specific ride at any other time other than what is on the
calendar, e-mail Tim and he will get the word out to the mailing list.
BSSC Rides
The Bomb Squad Scooter Club also has regular rides starting in April
and going until ??? These rides are every first and third Sunday
of the month and meet at 5:00PM at Java Jungle coffee shop. Java
Jungle is located on 1st Street in downtown Reno, just west of the
Riverside Cinema. To participate, you must be riding a geared
(i.e. manual-shift) scooter. A Burgman Executive doesn't count :-)
April
April 12: RAT. Meet at 1:00PM, route TBD. This is the annual
planning ride - the results are what you see here. Don't like the
results? Where were you?
April 26: Ride leader's choice. Meet at 9:00AM.
May
May 10: RAT. Meet at noon, route TBD.
May 24: Farm Country ride. Meet at 9:00AM. A nice ride through
Carson City, Yerington, the farm country, and back to Carson City. Ride
to Virginia City, back down the truck route or Mile-High canyon, east
past Dayton and take the Weeks cutoff to Yerington, ride the farm
district roads, up the canyon to Wellington and over the pass to
highway 395, Gardnerville, Carson City, and back home. Lunch in
Gardnerville or Carson City on the way back. You must have a
highway legal scooter.
May 6-15: Mission mission. Tim is heading out on a 10-day trip to
visit the old California missions from Sonoma to San Luis Obispo.

June
June 14: RAT. Meet at noon, route TBD.
June 28: Angels Camp loop. NOTE CHANGE IN TIME AND MEETING
PLACE! Meet at 8:00AM at the Shell gas station on South Virginia
Street right next to Michael's Power Sports (just a little further
south from the South Meadows Parkway interchange). This is an
all-day ride to Angels Camp and back. You need a highway legal
scooter for this and will be doing some mountain riding.

July
July 2-5: Amerivespa Rally. Los Gatos, CA. See the Amerivespa web site for
details. At least one member of Scoot Reno is definitely
going. Ride over, trailer over, rent a scoot when you get there.
July 12: RAT. Meet at noon, route TBD.
July 26: TBD.
August
August 9: RAT. Meet at noon, route TBD.
August 14-16: Royal Bastards Scooter Club presents Lake Tahoe
III: Scooter Royale. This is the annual rally that the
Bastards hold up at Lake Tahoe. $20 pre-registered, $25 if you
don't. See

available.
This will be Scoot Reno's annual Tahoe ride. Lots of fun!
August 23: TBD.
September
September 5-7: BSSC Doomtown IV rally. Looks like it didn't
happen this year, or was so secret that nobody knew about it.
September 13: RAT. Meet at noon, route TBD.
September 27: Sacramento River Delta/Davis overnight trip.

October
October 11: Sierra Valley Loop. Meet at 9:00AM, ride the Sierra
Valley with a stop for excellent sandwiches and soup in Graeagle.
October 25: Fall Colors ride. Meet at 9:00AM, ride south.
through West Washoe Valley, Carson City, Genoa, Woodfords, Hope Valley,
then over Hwy 89 to Lake Tahoe. Lunch someplace
in Southshore, then return via Hwy 50 or Kingsbury Grade and East Lake
Blvd. Highway legal scooter needed. This may be the last
'official' ride of the season!
November
November 9: RAT. Meet at noon, route and stop TBD. Weather-dependent.
