Dave scouted this ride the previous weekend, and declared a club ride
for the 21st. The word was out, the weather was perfect, and only
Tim showed-up to join him.
We left Reno from the Chevron station at Virginia and Longley,
following Virginia Street out past the latest upscale malls and onto
old Highway 395 through Washoe Valley. We took backroads through
Carson City and then Jacks Valley Road out to Genoa. Foothill
Road got us close to Woodfords and then it was off on Highway 88
through the canyon, over Luther Pass to Tahoe, and around Southshore
for a lunch stop at Mandarin Garden for some excellent soup. With
the exception of Tahoe, where the leaves had already turned color and
dropped, the trees were fantastic! A ride to repeat next year for
sure.
